Matt joined the Herold lab originally as a research technician in 2020 at the dawn of the COVID-19 pandemic. He graduated from George Washington University in 2017 with a BS in Chemistry and Psychology. Previously he worked in a lab at Boston University School of Medicine in antibody therapies targeting ARDS and pancreatic cancer.

Matt works in the lab in understanding the mechanism in which our novel HSV vaccine generates protective antibody dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC) antibodies. More specifically, he seeks to characterize the immune evasion pathway HSV employs by binding of glycoprotein D against Herpes Virus Entry Mediator (HVEM, TNFRSF14).

Outside of the lab, Matt enjoys board games, baking, and spending time with his dog, Peach.
